BIRD NET SYSTEMS

With regard to bird netting systems DEFRA states:

 “Bird and pigeon netting, if properly installed, provides one of the most effective ways of preventing bird access to buildings. Its effectiveness, though, is dependent on the correct net size being selected for the birds being deterred, and on covering every gap or ledge that can be exploited by the birds. When properly installed, netting is difficult to see and can be expected to last for several years”          

POST WIRE SYSTEMS

Post wire systems involve drilling into the stone work  and installing posts which raise the wire systems and provide the support for the horizontal wire and springs.

This system is for use against pest birds and in areas where their presence is light/medium or heavy. It is ideal for new buildings as it will deter birds from landing. It is almost invisible from ground level and will give years of trouble free maintenance. This system consists of spring tensioned wires that are suspended between posts. As the birds try to land feet first they encounter the unstable wire and are deterred from trying to alight on the structure.              

SPIKE SYSTEMS

The spike system is a network of spike which protrudes from a plastic base. Bird control deterrent spikes are normally around 1 foot (0.30 m) long and work by reducing the area available for birds to land on. This forces larger varieties of birds, such as seagulls, pigeons, crows and vultures, to land elsewhere
